Walk in Love Book Study

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About
the Episcopal Church But Were Afraid to Ask

Are you new to the Episcopal Church and wonder what it's all about? Have you found a home in the Episcopal Church and want to learn more? Have you been an Episcopalian all your life but find there are gaps in your knowledge of our church's breadth and depth. Wherever you find yourself this course, offered by St. Paul's Bakersfield, is for you. Over six weeks will we read together Walk in Love: Beliefs and Practices, discussing and reflecting on the many aspects of the Episcopal Church, including Episcopal/Anglican beliefs, history and spirituality. There will be times for conversation and questions, and each session will end with Compline - the Church's offering of Night Prayer.

The course begins Monday, July 12, at 6.30pm via Zoom and and we will meet through Monday, August 16.

July 26 - Chapters 9-12
August 2 - Chapters 13-16
August 9 - Chapters 17-20

Immigration Month Collection

The collection to be taken on June 20th will support the immigrant assistance work of Faith in the Valley, including their legal defense fund. You may contribute contribute online by going to https://www.sjraise.org/give.html and contribute to the Immigrant Assistance Fund.

Your Invitation to Immigration Month

In the four weeks leading up to Sunday, June 20th, the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin will be lifting up the struggles of immigrants and refugees in a variety ways, including a weekly Bible Study. The call to care for the stranger, the immigrant, is as old as our Sacred Scripture and as current as the evening news. To learn more about this effort and how you can respond see this overview.

Caring for Creation

St. Paul's Creation Care Committee is in its initial stages. As part of its ministry, it has launched a monthly newsletter. This newsletter will cover all kinds of tips and practical information for more responsible use of our natural resources, as well as advertise and promote ways we can get involved in this increasingly important aspect of Christian stewardship. Call for Donations tothe Building Fund

This month, St. Michael's will start a painting project for the exterior trims of the Church Building, Office Building and Parish Hall.

COVID-19 vaccination: Everyone in Ridgecrest can get the Vaccine

Step 1: Visit the Kern County Health Department website and fill out the form:

First name
Last name
Email address
Date of birth
Zip Code

You will receive a code to use at the state's website.

Step 2: Visit https://myturn.ca.gov
Fill out the questions and use the code provided by Kern County. If you put in the 93555 zip code and no appointments are available, try the following cities: Bakersfield, Tehachapi, California City. If there are appointments and vaccines available near the city entered, you will be able to sign up for a time and date at the city's health facility. One member of St. Michael's was able to get their vaccine shots at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield.
